Pros and cons compared to Democracy jeans, but Democracy fits me better
"I ordered these jeans specifically to compare them with a similar straight leg style and hue of Democracy Ab-Solution jeans. They're pretty close. The Wit and Wisdom jeans fabric has slightly less spandex, which I thought I would prefer, but ultimately they did not "mold and hold" as well as the Democracy ones did. I tried both an 8 and a 10 in W&W. In Democracy straight leg jeans, I'm an 8, (though in other pants, I'm a 10). I felt kind of between sizes in the W&W. The 10 was just a little bit bulkier fit than I wanted. The 8 was very snug, and perhaps with wearing would stretch to the fit I like, yet at the price point, I wasn't sure I wanted to count on that. It also seemed that the rise on the Democracy straight leg jeans was very slightly higher (1/4 inch? 1/2 inch?), and that worked better on me for making a smoother waistline transition. I did like the hue and texture of the W&W dark wash more than the similar Democracy version (which was a little inkier and less truly blue), but it was a small difference. I also appreciated that the W&W fabric was "whiskered" (I think they call it that, sort of pre-distressed lines across the "lap" area) very subtly compared to the similar Democracy jeans (not so much quality control in those variations on Democracy jeans, which varies so much pair to pair that I generally order a few expecting to send all but one pair back). I was surprised that in each pair of the Wit and Wisdom jeans, the buttonhole seemed poorly finished. It was, purposely I think, the absolute minimum space for the button (with an expectation that it would stretch?), but it didn't really look "done", with edges finished. More like a cut made, stitching over it, and the a cut made through the stitching, but the buttonhole itself was raw, not finished. Seemed a strange omission of quality on an otherwise premium garment."
